Think about this, King Saul had a good idea. Instead of killing all these fat sheep and oxen, why can we take them alive and offer sacrifice to God? I guess Samuel will be very happy. After all we have brought money to support His (Samuel’s) ministry. That was not a bad idea! Any one of us have done this in one way or the other. But the question is…. What did God said about them?
Verse 3 says, “Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.” Did I hear it properly? Go destroy all of them. God is saying am not in need of them. I know where to get sacrifice.
Obedience is better than sacrifice. After you have developed a two way communication with the Lord, obey what he tells you to do. Obeying is doing it! Do it. Go ahead and don’t negotiate. Did you hear from him? Then do it. When you start to do what He is telling you, you find your way climbing the ladder towards Him in faith. Just obey Him.
